External wall insulation added to a house that is over 100 years old. improving the appearence of the house while simultaneousley and more importantly insulating the house to modern standards and thereby reducing heating bills and carbon footprint. Below are some images of the process from bare brick with the rotten old cladding removed to insulation fixed to wall then to basecoat and protective mesh and finally a self cleaning silicone render in Oyster White.
To minimise the effect on the appearence of the house and to help protect the facade from bad weather a thinner but more expensive insulation has been used, new windows with deeper sills were also fitted at the same time.
